The O.G. (Clyde)

The Original Gangster

Having in mind the time when surfboards were undergoing a radical change and the shortboard revolution took over, Axel designed The Original Gangster. Especially in 1969, when some experimental designs were introduced.

The O.G. has an iconic wide outline, a round pintail, and a thruster set up. It’s a great board for intermediate surfers who are ready to take the next step. It’s also the board Kepa Acero took on every trip, as it’s so adaptable and always a fun choice from small waves to when they get more hollow.

The wider outline of the board gives surfers more volume under the chest, makes paddling easier and helps to catch waves. After the takeoff, the board carries speed down the line. The O.G.'s round pin tail adds hold to the board in steeper waves and when carving.

Overall, the Original Gangster is a fast and forgiving board that has room for progress for learning surfers. As soon as the surfer engages the tail, it drives controlled through turns. The transition from fuller up front to refined in the tail creates a responsive yet controlled feel. It’s fun in softer surf but serious when it needs to be.
